Nagarkot Changu Narayan Hike is an excellent day hike on the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley. The trail follows the ridge through the thick forest past terraced fields and Tamang villages with traditional houses built with stone and mud. The hiking trail is a gradual descent over a fairly wide path. Moreover, the hike is easy and mostly downhill, with great views. The Changu Narayan Temple was built in the 4th century during the period of the Lichhavi King Mandev. Explore this temple for some time, and then drive back to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 1: Drive to Nagarkot-Hike to Changu Narayan
Our guide will pick you up from the hotel around 8:00 am and drive you to Nagarkot. The drive goes through forests and terraced fields past small settlements. From Nagarkot, we can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges and the Kathmandu valley. We shall spend some time admiring the mountain view and then start the hike to Changu Narayan. From Nagarkot, it is a gradual descent through forests, terraced fields, and across Tamang villages. Here we get the opportunity to explore the local Tamang culture. Changu Narayan temple is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. The hike from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan takes about 4-5hrs. Explore around the temple and then transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.
