Around Kathmandu Trek is an excellent short trek nearby the Kathmandu valley. This trek is indeed suitable for those travelers who wish to do short hiking or have limited time for a long trek. This trek offers a unique opportunity to explore the cultural and natural aspects of the mid-hills. Moreover, you will have a stunning view of the mountains, explore rural villages, and learn more about the local lifestyles. Hence, this trek is easy and suitable for all age groups and does not need previous trekking experience.
Shivapuri is popular for watershed and wildlife reserves including bird watching. At the same time, it is one of the second largest hills surrounding the Kathmandu valley. In the meanwhile, this trek offers an introduction to the Nepalese rural culture and lifestyle of the local people surrounding the Kathmandu valley. You will have a memorable experience of the majestic view of the snowcapped mountains, natural beauty, and diverse flora and fauna of this region.
Around Kathmandu Trek begins with a short drive to Budanilkantha. The hike begins from near Budanilkantha and goes along the rugged road through pine forest up to Shivapuri. From Shivapur the trail traverses through the Shivapuri National Park past Chisapani and Dhap and arrives at Nagarkot. Nagarkot offers great views of the Himalayas along with sunrise and sunset view. Enjoy the sunrise view the next morning and then hike to Dhulikhel. From Dhulikhel, hike further to the ancient city of Panauti and end our trek.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival at the airport, meet and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, you have an option to stroll around Thamel and the local streets of Kathmandu. Welcome dinner in the evening with a typical Nepali cultural program. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 2: Hike to Shivapuri(2523m/4-5hrs)
Drive to Budhanilakantha (11km/30min.). Budhanilakantha lies at the base of Shivapuri Hill, there is an immense statue of Lord Vishnu resting on a bed of snakes and floating in the water. It is one of the masterpieces of stone sculpture of the Lichchhavi period of the 5th century. It is also a famous pilgrimage place for Hindus. After a brief stop at Budhanilakantha, start hiking to Shivapuri which will take about 4-5hrs. Overnight at lodge in Shivapuri Hill.
Day 3: Shivapuri to Dhap
Trek from Shivapuri Hill to Dhap through Chisapani, takes about 5 hours. Here you will have great insight into diverse flora and fauna, natural beauty, culture, heritage, and living style of local people surrounding the village of Kathmandu valley. Overnight at a lodge in Dhap
Day 4: Dhap-Nagarkot(2175m/5hrs)
After breakfast start trek to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is the best tourist destination due to the amazing views of the Himalayan Mountains with sunrise and sunset. Overnight at hotel in Nagarkot.
Day 5: Nagarkot-Dhulikhel(1550m/5-6hrs)
Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel takes approximately 6 hours. Enjoy the beautiful sunset in the evening. Dhulikhel is located at the Eastern rim of Kathmandu Valley, south of the Himalayas at 1550m above sea level, and is about 30 km southeast of Kathmandu and 74 km southwest of Kodari. Overnight at hotel in Dhulikhel.
Day 6: Dhulikhel-Panauti(3hrs)-Drive to Kathmandu
In the morning enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the beautiful sunrise view. Then start the hike to Panauti, which will take about 3hrs. Visit the ancient monuments and temples in Panuati and then drive to Kathmandu (40km/1hr) via Araniko highway. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 7: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
- Accommodation in 3-4* hotels and resorts in Kathmandu, Nagarkot and Dhulikhel and in lodges/tea house in other locations.
- All transfer by exclusive private vehicle as per itinerary.
- Sightseeing with entrance fees as per itinerary.
- English speaking local tour guide during the tour/trek.

- Only breakfast in Kathmandu and all meals while on the trek.

My Name is EDhan from California, America. I am a retired management consultant. Basically, this visit to Nepal exceeded my expectations. We came here through Tibet and Bhutan. Here in Nepal, I like the neighbourhood and friendly people. My wife every day used to go for morning walk and used to tell me the story about the local people, whatever she sees every day. Especially, the guide was most knowledgeable and made it possible and get a sense of not only historical and religious value of some of the places but also some of the other places how the people live over there day to day.
The company was able to manage all the services smoothly and made the memorable trip in Kathmandu. Do not be afraid of Earthquake; the government has done very good job, lots of cleaning up and reconstructions are going on. There are many places to go without facing any problems. Feel free to make a trip to Nepal nothing to afraid of and you will feel the completely different and unique. Hi, My Name is Margo Boston, America. We were planning the trip to visit Nepal Bhutan and Tibet through our local agency. In the beginning, we asked so many questions about safety, especially after the earthquake but we realised that after visiting Nepal it is completely safe & worthful to visit.
We are very glad to see the beautiful country. Everything was perfect and great to see the Hinduism and Buddhism and combinations of religious and cultural aspects in the tiny little city. The trip plan, all the staff activity including cultural show was great.

Hi, My Name is Lori, and I came to do the trip with my daughter. After the earthquake had happened we were confused, what should we do, should we go or should we not go for Nepal Trip and finally we decided to come after the consultation, and we had a wonderful time there. The tour guide and driver and all the staff were done magnificent job. There is so much to see and worthful to visit. The hotel was excellent, the food was great, we enjoyed our time. The Buddhist and Hindu temple were fascinating. Our guide was brilliant and enhanced all experience and knowledge he passed all the knowledge to us and shared the ideas. I encourage you to visit Nepal it is one of the incredible places around the world.

Hi ! This is Palm from America, this is my first trip to Nepal and has been perfect and life time memorable. I have travelled many places around the world and really been looking forward to this trip. Nepal is a very colourful country, I was concerned because of the earthquake and because of the impact might right now. I was pleasantly surprised that yes they did have an impact and there are lots of reconstruction are going on. There are lots of places to see and open for the tourist. The people here are very friendly, all the staffs of Sixth Sense including tour guide and the management and coordination were perfect.
What I like this country is that the culture and diversity of landscape. Besides this Nepal is very vibrant country and colourful country. In the future, I would like to make more trips in Nepal with Sixth Sense spending more time in Kathmandu and it’s surrounding areas and countryside. For the tourist, I would recommend please do visit Nepal with Sixth Sense. Tour Guide and company which was responsible for everything to organise this trip, everything was taken care of all the arrangements were first class.
