Kathmandu ranked the world’s number 23rd travel destination on Trip Advisor


World’s popular travel review portal TripAdvisor announced the winner of it’s choice awards for the best global destinations. Kathmandu has listed on 23rd rank out of top 25 best destinations under ‘2016 Travellers’ Choice Awards’. The list is based on the quality and quantity of user reviews and ratings of the destination’s hotels, restaurants and attractions considering the millions of reviews over the 12 months period as well as traveler booking interest on it’s website.

Holi Festival in Nepal: A day of colours


Holi festival is  known as the festival of colors, also called ‘Phagu Purnima’ or ‘Holi Purnima, which is a festival of rejoicing occurs in the spring time on the day of full moon in the Nepalese month of Phalgun/Chaitra (March). In Kathmandu and hilly area of Nepal Holi is celebrated on first day and in Terai (south part of Nepal) is celebrated on the second day (the day after the full moon) and on that day it is official holiday.Traditionally, the festival used to last for 8 days and was marked by throwing colored water and red powder on acquaintances and the people even passing by the street. Nowadays, it is celebrated only Two days (one day in Kathmandu valley and hilly region and second day in Terai region of Nepal). Color powder and color water are riotously dispensed as a reminder of the cooling monsoon days to come. Foreigners get special attention to keep your camera protected and safe and also wear old clothes.

Blocked Manaslu trekking route opens

Rescuers arrive at avalanche site

The Manaslu trekking route in Gurkha District that was obstructed due to numerous landslides at different points following the Gorkha Earthquake has been opened from Tuesday.

The trekking route was brought into operation after removing landslide debris from Aarught to Philim of Sirdibas VDC. The Nepalese Army Bhairabi Dal Battalion, Gorkha, and the Armed Police Force’s Gorkha Company cleared the rubble and brought the route into use.
