Tsum Valley Trek

Tsum Valley Trekking is a situated in northern Gorkha, Nepal and considered as sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley. The word Tsum comes from the Tibetan word Tsombo, which means vivid. Traditionally, Tsum valley was a distinct geographical area called Tsum Tso Chucksums, which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory. Against the majestic backdrop of the Ganesh Himal,Sringi Himal, Boudha Himal ranges, this serene Himalayan valley is rich in ancient art, culture and religion. The region once being part of Tibet looks completely different from what you will find elsewhere. The local people are mostly of Tibetan origin and speak their own dialect. The hidden valley is surrounded by the Boudha Himal and Himal chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south and Sringi Himal to North.

Tsum Valley Trek trail heads upper Budi Gandaki River Valley through unexplored countryside inhabited by the Tibetan community. The valley is extensively rich in cultural and tradition dwelled with Buddhist monasteries, nunneries, chortens and prayer walls and significant religious monuments, the longest mani walls at Dzong and Phurpe are great attractions.

The region used to be restricted and just opened to foreign visitors in 2008. It is still less exposed, virgin & less beaten path in comparison to other popular touristy areas. In Upper Tsum Valley, “Tsumbo" welcomes you with traditional Tibetan Su Chiya (butter tea) and local food. It offers totally unspoiled culture and tradition of Tsumba with fabulous mountain view of Ganesh Himal Range, Sringi Himal, Bauddha Himal and many more spectacular views. The trek starts and ends at  Arughat, a seven hours drive from Kathmandu.
